Dear Friend of Liberty,
As the New Year approaches, I am grateful to God for His patience and bountiful blessings.
The Constitution Party has made important strides forward this year as a result of your generous gifts. We’ve added staff, gained ballot access for 2008 in several states already, conducted a very successful supporting membership drive, and spread the word as never before about the failed policies of the Bush administration.
We were only able to do this because of your support. Thank you!
As you know, petition drives to gain ballot access are very expensive but the good news I want to share with you is that we are 50% ahead of where we were at this time 4 years ago!
To achieve these results we have exhausted our resources, and your help is vitally needed once again.
Please click here to help us continue to build upon these successes with your continued support.
During the Christmas season, I cannot help but think about the blessings God has bestowed upon us. He has given us freedom and prosperity beyond the wildest dreams of any previous civilization.
He has made us strong and productive and the envy of the world. But like you, I know that those blessings come with responsibilities.
The responsibility to be good stewards of all we have received.
The responsibility to promote freedom and accountability.
The responsibility to provide coming generations with the truth about their heritage.
Now as this year comes to a close, we are looking ahead. The upcoming 2008 elections offer us historic opportunities. And we are committed to recruiting and fielding more great candidates and running more strong campaigns than ever before.
We are determined to give the American people a real choice and not just the unfortunate decision of the “lesser of evils.”
That’s why I’m counting on you, your activism and your financial support to ensure we are on the ballot in all 50 states. I hope I can count on your continued generosity.
Please click here to make your year-end gift of $500, $250, $100, $40 or whatever you can sacrifice. It will make a tremendous difference in our ability to get our message out.
A message of individual freedom and responsibility. A message for life from fertilization to natural death. A message of limited, constitutional government and a promise of secure borders to end the flood of illegal immigrants.
No other party will take these stands, and I’m sure you agree that it’s urgent that the Constitution Party continues to provide leadership in the political realm.
We cannot, and will not, allow our great country to slip farther and farther away from the Constitutional restraints on which it was founded.
As I look back on the past year, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and encouragement at all we have achieved because of your commitment and dedication to our common goals.
In the face of tremendous odds, the Constitution Party and its state affiliates have made tremendous strides.
I am greatly encouraged that you and I will be facing the challenges of the New Year together. As I look ahead I am eager to take on the challenges that the election year will bring.
If you will click here to help by sending your most generous possible year-end gift, we will be able to hit the ground running in 2008.
I thank you for all you have done for the cause of liberty. I am deeply grateful for your continued support, and I wish you and yours a most happy, peaceful and joyous New Year.
Yours for the Cause of Liberty,
James N. Clymer
National Chairman
PS: Your generosity means so much to me personally and everyone who believes in the principles of the Constitution Party. I am deeply grateful for all you have done and want you to know how important your continued support is to me.
Please click here to let me know that I can count on you to help keep the dream of the Constitution Party alive into 2008 by sending your most generous possible year-end contribution right away. Our survival as a party depends on you.

I’ve got no horse in this political race. I’ve made that very clear. I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. I am a Christo-crat. I vote the Bible, so please don’t think this is an attack on or support for one candidate or another.
I will say this, as I have believed for at least 12 years, that again the most Bible believing candidate of all is Alan Keyes. But as I have previously tried to warn readers conservatism is “pretend salt.” Dr. Keyes is a constitutionalist with a Biblical perspective and the last thing that the “men behind the curtain” want is a mix of a Bible-believing, constitutional-defending candidate. They want to give us Rudy….or Huckabee.
Now I don’t have anything against Huckabee, other than he appears to me to be a Republican-Jimmy Carter. He is big on the “social-Gospel” and wants the government to assume the role of the church in regards to the poor. Sadly, if most churches put as much money into social-aid and Christian-education as they do into fancy buildings and reparative-programs we would be able to put government out of business.
The last thing that America needs is a pastor, even a former one, as President. Perhaps I am from the old school, but I believe that one is “called” to be a pastor. The Scriptures tell us that “the gifts and callings of God are irrevocable.” We find ourselves in a Spiritual mess today because too many of those standing in the pulpit are “hirelings,” committed not to the cross but to the job. It is a sad state of affairs when we have pastors looking for promotions within the body. That flies in the face of everything the Lord taught us. No part of the body is more important than another.
But there is a hierarchy in Christendom and many of those who reach the zenith of power are those who have built the largest ministries, or are the most visible on TV, or the ones who get invited to The Whitehouse for dinner. Many of them are hirelings, who are more faithful to “their ministry” than they are to their Lord.
You know what I’m talking about Willis.
Jesus only had a following of twelve and even they began to scatter at the end. The Gospel message of today is “sugar coated.” That is why; once again, Faux News gave us Joel Osteen on “Faux News Sunday with Chris Wallace.” Do people really believe this phony feel-good Gospel that Osteen and his buds in the media want to feed us? Maybe they should take a trip to North Korea and see how Christians there are celebrating Christmas. Maybe we should run Osteen for President. All America would be happy!
Boy I wish I didn’t have to say some of things I am going to say.
For the most part, those who are “senior pastors,” (find that term in the Bible) in modern evangellyfish churches are nothing more than corporate CEO’s. What do CEO’s worry about? Why, the bottom line, of course. Their job is butts and bucks. Keep the pews and the coffers full and cruise into retirement. (By the way, where do you find that retirement plan in the Gospel?) No man can serve two masters.
(Sorry, I don’t know where this commentary is coming from but I might as well ride this horse while I’m on it. Send donations here. “Will speak for food”….I doubt I’ll find many open pulpits after this zinger.)
Let me stop right here. I know many faithful men of God who are anonymously laboring over small flocks of folks. They are the true shepherds who care about the sheep, many working a full-time job to provide for their families. They are the ones who are called to be watchmen on the walls. The slick haired, silver-tongued TV preachers are not worthy to carry the bag of most of these men. I salute them. I thank God for them. I want to encourage you to encourage them. They are the “salt of the earth.”
But there is a huge difference between a shepherd and a hireling. Most pastors in big ministries are hirelings. Building the “church” is their job. They are managers, not leaders. Today, more than ever, our pulpits need prophets.
Here are two similarities I have noticed between CEO/Pastors and politicians.
They are great at spending other people’s money. They call that “tithes and offerings” and they make a great living off of those they serve. Our elected officials do the same. They are great at demanding a “tithe” to the government and then spend it on what they feel is most “charitable” as they live “high on the hog” off of the labors of those they serve. That is what President Huckabee would like to do with your government tithe.
They refuse to take a stand on controversial positions. This directly affects the butts and bucks. Like a politician, a CEO/Pastor will say whatever he has to say in order to keep the peace, and the cash flow. A politician trades his conscience for votes.
Maybe it is just me, but Mike Huckabee appears to be like so many of the “Christian CEO’s” I have seen. The media gives him the title “former minister” like they would “former banker,” or “former salesman.” You can never be a former minister, not if you are called. Remember, a call is irrevocable. A profession is not. I think “former minister” Huckabee is a hireling. The America-Christian Church needs another John the Baptist, not another Robert Schuler. Would John the Baptist win the Iowa caucus?
A wise man once said that politics was the “art of compromise.” Well, if that is true, then how is it possible to be both an un-compromising defender of God’s Word and a politician? I think they call that an oxymoron. (Oxy means “combined with” and moron means “a stupid person”) Sounds like most political candidates, eh?
Mike Huckabee might be a good man. I am confident that he knows Jesus. But knowing Jesus does not qualify one for leadership. Bill Clinton knew Jesus, Jimmy Carter knew Jesus, GW Bush knew Jesus….would you vote for any of them again? The Devil knows Jesus.
How has “Pastor” Mike Huckabee made the climb from the pulpit to the peak of political power? The path from Pastor to President is filled with compromise. There is no other way it can be done. “A little leaven leavens the whole lump.”
“But Coach”, you say. “We are not electing a pastor, we are elected a President.”
I know. That’s what scares me. The last thing we need is a “Pastor” as president. I’ve seen what a mess the compromising CEO/Pastors have made of the Christianity. If they won’t defend the Bible what makes us think the will defend the Constitution?
Some of you are squirming. That is a good thing. In a recent debate “former pastor” Huckabee made a joke about Jesus being too smart to run for office. Everyone laughed. I didn’t. You don’t run for the position of God. “Former minister” Huckabee doesn’t realize Jesus is already in charge. But if Jesus was running for office would He hide who He really was? Would He speak what He really believed or would He join the PC crowd, afraid to offend? Would a real “man of God” hide Jesus under a bushel?
There is a saying that America gets the leaders we deserve. Funny, isn’t it? Mike Huckabee is a reflection of the Church, a mirror if you will of the face of Christianity. He is so much a representation of the slick haired, full toothed, wide-smiling “Pastor” that floods our TV airwaves. “Former pastor” Mike Huckabee looks like modern TV-Christianity. That’s why he is so popular. That’s why the media loves him. He is “nice Christianity.”
Will Mike Huckabee fight for God’s principles when elected? Will he issue an executive order protecting God’s precious unborn children? Will he declare that homosexuality is a sin and stop the indoctrination of our children? Will he declare that God is God and government is not? Watch this video. See if this reminds you of “former pastor” Huckabee.
I’m skeptical. Standing for Jesus will cost butts, bucks and votes. He’s not wired that way. He is a “trained pastor.” That scares me.
America needs a statesman as president. Not a pastor. We need a President who will stand-up for Jesus, not one who is merely “a Christian.” A real “pastor” would tell America that Jesus is the answer to all of our problems, and not some government program.
America needs a prophet.
Please, no pastors for president.

Dear Friend,
As the Christmas season is upon us, I am reminded of the countless blessings our Savior has bestowed upon this great country. I am also reminded of the immeasurable good fortune I have to count you as a friend, supporter and fellow warrior in the battle to restore as public policy those values that have made our great country the envy of the world.
But I also cannot ignore the very real danger we face of losing everything that America has stood for. The major parties have created a political monopoly. Although they masquerade as two parties, they are really one, with two parts. Both are determined to promote the same agenda.
Without the Constitution Party as a viable alternative, Americans will almost certainly be left choosing between two pro-abort, nanny state, open borders, deficit-spenders. America cannot survive much longer with that kind of “leadership.”
While a few truly admirable men are seeking the Republican nomination for president, you and I know that the party establishment is doing all it can to silence anyone who is not among the “anointed.” If, as we expect, the Republican Party chooses one of the media approved “front runners” there will almost certainly be a revolt among those who have been the backbone of that party for so long.
In the past, the Republican leaders paid lip service to conservatives to get their support during the campaign, but then treated them with contempt after the election.
Now, the party is offering as its chosen candidates, men who have undeniable records of supporting abortion, open borders, the homosexual agenda and gun control.
Astoundingly, a few prominent religious and “conservative” leaders have endorsed these GOP candidates, once again seeking a “seat at the table” and abandoning their principles. It’s shameful, and the American people have had enough.
As you have probably heard, Dr. James Dobson and other pro-family leaders have announced their intention to vote third party should the Democrats and Republicans both nominate pro-abortion candidates.
There is no doubt that the Democrats will, as always, continue to promote the party platform of abortion on demand, and now it seems very likely that the Republicans will do the same.
As Dobson said in a recent New York Times editorial; “Winning the presidential election is vitally important, but not at the expense of what we hold most dear.” But with your help, winning is a very real possibility for the Constitution Party.
Given the likely outcome of the primaries, the principled voters of America are going to be faced with two evils, neither of which will be “lesser,” and they will be eager for an alternative.
CNN’s Lou Dobbs said “I believe that …Americans will demand a far better choice than (these) candidates …something on the order of an independent movement will come if these two parties fail the American people again.”
With the tide clearly turning in our direction, we must be prepared to offer America a candidate they can believe in, and it is crucial that the Constitution Party is on the ballot in every state.
Your help now can mean that Americans will not be forced into four more years of failed and destructive policies. Would you please click here to make a donation to the Constitution Party?
It’s no surprise that across the country, Republicans are losing seats and losing voters.
In fact, recent surveys show a consistent increase in the number of Americans who identify with neither major party. These “independent voters” are now roughly equal to the number of people who identify themselves as republicans. This clearly indicates voters are looking for another option.
In the past, even while promoting dangerous policies, the Republicans continued the pretense that they believed in conservative values. Now even the pretense is gone and men and women with principles are looking elsewhere for representation.
Clearly, the Constitution Party is the natural home for principled voters. Help me welcome them by making sure our candidates are on the 2008 ballot in every state.
That’s why I am asking you to consider the most generous contribution you are able to make in this effort to provide that alternative candidate. Please make a donation to the Constitution Party by clicking here.
The ballot access process is difficult and expensive. The response to our last appeal was tremendous and allowed us to move forward with our petition drive in Ohio and bring on board a National Ballot Access Coordinator to get the ball rolling in several more states.
We are making progress but our resources for ballot access have now been depleted. We have only a short window of opportunity to achieve ballot access in many states and we must press onward with everything we can muster if we are to be successful.
In many places the entrenched major parties work together to block ballot access to others. But we are determined to offer America an alternative, and you can help us make sure that happens.
Your contribution of $1,000, $250, $100 or $50, or whatever you can afford, will make the difference.
For far too many years, our country has slid further and further from our Constitutional roots. We have flipped the coin between Democrat control and Republican control in hopes of improvement, only to discover that no matter which side comes up, it’s tails we lose.
It’s time for a new coin - one with two sides. As a supporter of Constitutional principles, your contribution will give Americans hope, vision and a real choice.
I pray in this most blessed of seasons I can count on your generosity so that we can work to offer our country the greatest Christmas gift of all; a future bright with hope, free from war and safe for the unborn. I wish you a peaceful and joyous Christmas.
Yours for Liberty,
Jim Clymer
National Chairman
P.S. Your generous support is needed as soon as possible. The battle to ensure ballot access across the country is in full swing. Please help by clicking here to make a donation to the Constitution Party.
Your contribution now will make the difference in guaranteeing that the American people have a real choice. Please consider the most generous contribution you can afford, and have a peaceful and blessed Christmas.

Cross Secure Borders Off Your Christmas List
Americans Told: “Your Safety Not Priority; Promises Made Won’t Be Kept”
Lancaster, PA: The surreptitious passing of a Congressional spending bill (H.R.2764) that guts plans to build substantial barriers along the U.S.- Mexico border should make it plain to all Americans illegal immigration will continue unless continually challenged.
The Constitution Party calls attention to the late night passage of the massive spending bill that ignores the wishes of the majority of Americans who say securing the US border is vital.
“The 2006 Secure Fence Act made it clear Americans want the border fenced,” said Constitution Party National Committee Chairman Jim Clymer.
The new spending bill removes provisions for specific fence locations along with the mandates for beefed-up barriers.
“Congressional representatives defied constituents who have said time and again they want the illegal influx to stop. Increased crime, overburdened social service and educational systems, environmental and public health consequences are all the result of the illegal invasion that’s been allowed to continue unchecked,” (http://www.usillegalaliens.com/impacts_of_illegal_immigration_crime_summary.html ) added Clymer.
“The latest outrage should be one more indication why Americans are registering discontent with their elected officials. This spending bill is another reason why Congress has historically low approval ratings, and why both political parties now controlling our government are seeing mass defections,” Clymer further noted.
The recently-passed spending bill chopped the budget for reinforcing the border with fencing by more than half. In addition to cutting close to $2 billion from the Secure Fence Act, Congress sliced and diced funds for 45,000 detention beds and hundreds of local law enforcement officers to handle criminal illegal aliens.
The Constitution Party encourages voters to contact their United States senators and make it clear the House-passed omnibus budget should be rejected
“Last year, Congress… passed legislation that mandated a double fence requirement based on the success of the border fence we’ve built in San Diego,” noted presidential candidate Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA), the author of the 2006 Secure Fence Act.
“If Congress is to reverse its border stance after just one year, what message does that send to illegal immigrants and drug smugglers who are watching to see how serious we are about protecting America’s borders?” Hunter asked.
“Americans are figuring it out - politicians promised funds for border enforcement, but didn’t follow through when it came time to putting our money where their mouths were,” Clymer added.

The Constitution party, the largest and fastest-growing third party in the country (Ballot-Access News) is the only political party that advocates strict immigration law enforcement, deportation of criminal illegal aliens and ending taxpayer services to those in this country unlawfully.

Who Are These Kooks?
By Chuck Baldwin
December 18, 2007
This column is archived at
http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2007/cbarchive_20071218.html
According to the Associated Press, “Republican presidential hopeful
Ron Paul’s supporters raised over $6 million Sunday to boost the
10-term congressman’s campaign for the White House.”
The AP report also said, “The [Paul] campaign’s previous fundraiser
brought in $4.2 million.”
According to the Paul campaign website, “In a 24-hour period on
December 16, the campaign raised $6.026 million dollars, surpassing
the one-day record of $5.7 million held by John Kerry.
“During the day, over 58,000 people contributed to Dr. Paul’s
campaign, including 24,940 first-time donors. Over 118,000 Americans
have donated to the campaign in the fourth quarter.
“The $6 million one-day total means the campaign has raised over $18
million this quarter, far exceeding its goal of $12 million.”
Now, if one listens to most of the political pundits in the major
media, Ron Paul is some kind of “kook,” and his supporters are also a
bunch of “kooks.” So, the question must be asked, Just who are these
kooks that are supporting him, and why are they giving Ron Paul all
this
money?
First, let’s take a look at this “kook” who is receiving all this
money. Ron Paul was born the third son of Howard and Margaret Paul,
and was brought up with a work ethic in which one worked six days a
week and went to church on Sunday. His first job was at age 5 helping
his uncle wash bottles. He worked all the way through his youth mowing
lawns, delivering newspapers, working in a drug store, delivering
furniture and laundry, etc.
In high school, Ron was a track star, winning state as a junior in the
220-yard dash and running 2nd in the 440. His time in the 100-yard
dash was 9.8. That’s pretty good. I was never able to break 10-flat in
the 100. Although, I bet I could have beaten him in the 50-yard dash.
He also wrestled in high school. Coincidentally, so did I. But here
Ron leaves me: he was president of the student council and an honor
student. I never accomplished that. I was just glad to get promoted to
the next grade. Even as a senior statesman, Ron Paul keeps himself in
terrific shape. Have you seen him lately? He still maintains a
rigorous exercise regimen.
Ron’s two brothers are both ministers, and he became a medical doctor.
He graduated from Duke University School of Medicine. When the Cuban
Missile Crisis arose, Ron became a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air
Force. He also served in the Air National Guard.
As an OB/GYN physician, Dr. Paul has delivered more than 4,000 babies,
and he and his wife, Carol, have been married for more than 50 years.
They have 5 children, 18 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Ron
Paul is currently in his 10th term as a congressman from Texas.
As a congressman, Ron Paul has never taken a government-paid junket.
He is not accepting a government pension. He returns a portion of his
office budget every year to the taxpayers. As a member of Congress, he
has never voted a raise for himself. Do you know any other member of
Congress that can make such a claim? Of course you don’t, because Ron
Paul is truly one-of-a-kind.
Former President Ronald Reagan said this about Ron Paul, “Ron Paul is
one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national
defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our
armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him
fighting for our country.”
Perhaps this helps explain why many of the “kooks” supporting Ron Paul
are active-duty military personnel. In fact, Ron Paul has received
more campaign contributions from active-duty military personnel than
any other Presidential candidate from either party.
But who are the other “kooks” supporting Ron Paul? What kind of people
give more than $18 million in a quarter-year to a Presidential
candidate that is almost universally ignored by the mainstream press?
What kind of people give record contributions to a Presidential
candidate that is lampooned by his fellow Republican Presidential
contenders?
For example, Mike Huckabee recently said he could support any of the
other Republican Presidential contenders (including Rudy Giuliani),
except Ron Paul. That means, Mike Huckabee would rather support a
pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, pro-gun control liberal such as
Giuliani than support the pro-life, pro-traditional marriage,
pro-Second Amendment candidacy of Ron Paul. Why is that?
Furthermore, why are the entire major media and establishment
Republican machine either ignoring or lampooning a distinguished Air
Force veteran, medical doctor, and ten-term Congressman? What is it
about Ron Paul that the elite are so afraid of?
Here is something else: while Ron Paul’s contributions have exploded,
Mike Huckabee is all but broke! How can that be? How can a political
“front-runner” be out of money, while a man who “doesn’t have a
chance” is breaking fundraising records?
So, who are these “kooks” who are sending Ron Paul so much money? And
just why are they sending him so much money? I will tell you who they
are, because I am one of them. They are rank-and-file, tax-paying
citizens who are sick and tired of out-of-control federal spending and
deficits. They have had it with an arrogant federal government that
runs roughshod over both the Constitution and the liberties of the
American people. They are people who have had enough of the IRS, the
BATFE, and a thousand other federal agencies that have “erected a
multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass
our people, and eat out their substance.” (Declaration of
Independence)
They are people who see through the phony, disingenuous federal
politicians who only want to fleece the American citizenry for the
purpose of building their own personal fortunes. They have had it with
the Military-Industrial complex that desires to build international
empires at the expense of the blood and sacrifice of the American
people. They have had it with David Rockefeller and his Council on
Foreign Relations. They have had it with the arrogance of George W.
Bush and Nancy Pelosi.
They are sick and tired of paying outlandish taxes for a public
education system that produces high school graduates who cannot read
and write. They are sick and tired of working for 30 years to pay off
a mortgage, only then to be forced to pay extortion money (a.k.a.
property taxes) for the rest of their lives to the feudal state. They
are sick and tired of the government telling them what they can and
cannot do with their own property. They are sick and tired of watching
people with food stamps buy T-bone steaks and expensive Nike tennis
shoes while they are forced to buy fatty hamburger and cheap sneakers.
They are sick and tired of watching their manufacturing jobs go to
China and India. They have had it with money-hungry businessmen who
hire illegal Mexicans at slave labor wages. They have had it with
labor unions promoting politicians who support NAFTA, CAFTA, and the
FTAA. They are sick and tired of being bled dry at the gas pump.
They have had it with this phony “war on terrorism” that sends
trillions of dollars to nations throughout the Middle East, but
refuses to close our own borders to illegal immigration. They have had
it with the “war on drugs” and the “war on terror” being used as
excuses to trample people’s freedoms. They have it with Vicente Fox
and Felipe Calderon. They have had it with Bush’s North American
Union. They have had it with Joel Osteen and Rick Warren. In short,
they have just had it!
They also know that a vote for any other Presidential candidate is a
vote for more of the same. Democrat or Republican: it is more of the
same. Ron Paul, and Ron Paul alone, will bring a revolution of freedom
and independence to America. Believe me, the Ron Paul revolution is
bigger than Ron Paul. This is the beginning of a movement.
No matter what ultimately happens to Ron Paul’s candidacy, the fight
to return America to its roots of freedom and independence has
started. The fire is lit. There is no putting it out. There will be
other Ron Pauls, other campaigns, other spokesmen, other fundraising.
The people supporting Ron Paul will not be silenced; they will not be
ignored; they will not be intimidated. In truth, Ron Paul’s campaign
may just be the beginning of the end of the elitist, globalist,
stranglehold over America.
As one who is also fed up with the globalist goons that dominate the
two major parties, I join the Ron Paul revolution and vow to fight for
the rest of my life for the freedom and independence of these United
States. This means I will never again support a business-as-usual,
millionaires-club, globalist toady from either party ever again! I
will only support candidates who are fully committed to restoring
constitutional government. If that makes me a kook, so be it.

BELIEVERS AGAINST THE WAR
ANOTHER $700 BILLION TO FUND THE WAR MACHINE
Clackamas, OR - Seven hundred billion dollars for the Department of Offense! On Friday, in an unprecedented act of treason, the U.S. Senate chose to once again prop up the failing American Empire with a slam dunk vote of 90 to 3 – even throwing in another $200 billion of “no strings attached” money to fully fund the illegal occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan.
The costs to support the American Empire, which now spans across 750 bases located in 130 of the world’s 192 countries, are staggering. We now spend more on our military than the rest of the world spends on theirs – combined!
If we add in the budgets for Fatherland Security, the CIA, NSA - along with what it takes to fund the swarm of nearly 100,000 heavily armed, increasingly belligerent, federal agents - the actual number is closer to ONE TRILLION DOLLARS.
The notable no-shows to this Senate betrayal were Senators McCain, Dodd, Biden, Obama and Clinton – who skipped the vote, apparently thinking it more important to be in Iowa begging for votes than back in Washington doing the job we hired them to do.
David Brownlow, Director of BELIEVERS AGAINST THE WAR, said, “Without a doubt, we have created the most fearsome and ferocious military machine the world has ever known. Unfortunately, instead of being used as a force for good, our military has become the personal imperial army for the gang criminals who have seized control of our country - who wield this power like spoiled children as they strut across the world, barking out threats to all who refuse to bow down before them. It is time to take away their toys.”
Brownlow continued, “Senators Wyden and Smith, who both pretend to be against the war, are now full fledged participants in the war crimes being committed throughout the world in the name of the American people. When we needed them to make a stand for peace, they chose to shovel another $700 billion into the jaws of death. What a bloody mess.”

by James N. Clymer
Chairman, Constitution Party National Committee
The New York Times recently editorialized that the religious right is in disarray. A casual look at the Republican presidential race would seem to bear that out.
There appears to be no consensus candidate among the social conservatives.
• Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has garnered endorsements from a number of key movement conservatives including political activists Free Congress Foundation head, Paul Weyrich, American Conservative Union Chairman, David Keene, renowned conservative lawyer James A. Bopp, Jr., Bob Jones III and Jay Sekulow, among others.
• The National Right To Life Committee has endorsed former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson while American Family Association founder Don Wildmon, Faith2Action founder Janet Folger, Vision America founder, Rick Scarborough and a host of lesser political lights, but influential in the religious community, have endorsed former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
• Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback, a powerhouse among social conservatives, threw his support behind Arizona Sen. John McCain. Then to add further confusion, Pat Robertson endorsed none other than Rudy Giuliani. That’s right, ardently pro-abortion, pro-special rights for homosexuals/same sex marriage Giuliani, endorsed by the champion of traditional family values Pat Robertson. What is a religious conservative to do?
Meanwhile, conspicuously absent from the endorsement list are other prominent conservatives such as Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family and Phyllis Schlafly, conservative author and founder and chairman of Eagle Forum. Schlafly likes California Congressman Duncan Hunter who is barely a blip on the radar screen and Dobson doesn’t seem to see anyone in the game that he likes.
Then there is former UN Ambassador Alan Keyes, who articulates the Christian conservative message more clearly than anyone else on the national scene. Keyes is being virtually ignored by the religious conservatives, even to the point of not being invited to the Values Voters Conference in October, despite the fact that invitations were extended to all the other Republican candidates with national name recognition.
Even more confusing, there have been at least two meetings reported of influential religious conservatives meeting to discuss alternative strategies in the event the GOP gives its nod to Giuliani or another pro-abort. Dobson has publicly stated on more than one occasion that he would not support or vote for Giuliani, McCain or Thompson.
At the first of these meetings, it was reported that of 50 people in attendance, 43 stood to assert that they would vote for a third party candidate if the Republican nominee is pro-abortion.
Does all this bear out that the religious conservatives are in disarray? I suggest it may be a necessary process for social conservatives to find their way, rethink their strategy and crystallize their objectives.
For the seven years of President Bush’s administration, social conservatives have been the loyal water boys for the Republican Party. Most social conservatives are also fiscal conservatives and believe not only that the federal government should be smaller and less intrusive, but that there should be limits on the reach of government power.
These conservatives swallowed hard as they saw the greatest expansion of federal government power and spending since the Great Society days of the Johnson administration. They saw non-military, discretionary spending increase at a rate more than three times that of the Clinton administration, at a time when Republicans controlled both houses of congress and the White House.
To make matters worse, they saw a president who, while wearing his Christianity on his sleeve, appointed more open homosexuals to high office than Clinton. They watched as their president bowed to a Shinto shrine, declared Islam a religion of peace and declare that Muslims, Jews, Christians and – by a fair interpretation of his remarks – all other religions, worship the same God and their various paths all lead to salvation.
It is not coincidental that many religious conservatives are now saying, “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me,” and are no longer willing to follow lockstep with GOP leadership.
All of this presents an unparalleled opportunity for the Constitution Party. Can we rise to the challenge? Can we be the bulwark in this political storm where the disenfranchised can find refuge? If we are successful in marshalling those who have been betrayed by their party leadership into a “Third Force” as Richard Viguerie calls it, but organized as the Constitution Party (which is not what Viguerie recommends), we can re-shape the political landscape.
If we effectively use the opportunity it appears may be given us, out of this next election cycle will come a re-aligned social conservative movement, committed more to the principles on which its foundation rests than a political party. This is where the movement will find true strength – when it is willing to step out of the confines of a single political party and let it be known that the party is only a vehicle to achieve its goals. When that vehicle becomes destructive of the movement’s goals, it is time for a “Declaration of Independence” from that party. The time is now

“He that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” (Luke 22:36 KJV)
Most of us are aware that the heroic actions of a brave woman at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado a few days ago saved the lives of perhaps scores, or even hundreds, of people. However, her bravery would not have counted for much had she not been armed.
On that fateful December Sunday, a man by the name of Matthew Murray entered the church armed to the teeth. According to press reports, he was armed with a semi-automatic rifle, two handguns, some smoke grenades, and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition.
By the time Murray arrived in the Colorado Springs church, he had already killed four people: two at a missionary training center miles away, and two in the church parking lot. He had wounded several others. No one realized it at the time, but the man was a serial killer in the midst of a rampage. He doubtless planned to kill as many people as he could, as there were thousands of people inside the church. Had there not been an armed citizen in the church house, the death toll would have been massive.
According to church spokesmen, the congregation has over a dozen members who volunteered to serve as security personnel for the church. Jeanne Assam was one of those volunteers.
A former police officer, Assam said, “I saw him [Murray] coming through the doors, and I took cover, and I waited for him to get closer. I came out of cover, I identified myself and engaged him and took him down.” Murray died in the exchange. Although Assam shot him several times with her 9mm pistol, the coroner’s office said that Murray actually succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. After being incapacitated by Assam’s gunfire, Murray apparently turned one of his weapons on himself.
Chalk one up for the good guys, or in this case, good gals.
Have you noticed how the media dropped the Colorado story as soon as it was discovered that a lawfully armed citizen ended the potential massacre by using her own handgun? Had the killer been successful in murdering scores of people, however, it would have been at the top of the news for weeks. As it is, the story is already buried in the dungeon section of the news, if it is in the news at all.
One thing the national news media will always ignore is the practice of lawful self-defense. For example, most people are probably not aware of the fact that American citizens use a firearm to defend themselves more than 2.4 million times EVERY YEAR. That is more than 6,500 times EVERY DAY. This means that, each year, firearms are used 60 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives. Furthermore, of the 2.4 million self-defense cases, more than 192,000 are by women defending themselves against sexual assault. And in less than eight percent of those occasions is a shot actually fired. The vast majority of the time (92%), the mere presence of a firearm helps to avert a major crime from occurring. That is what Congressman Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD) concluded after extensive research. According to Rep. Bartlett, the number of defensive uses is four times the number of crimes reported committed with guns.
John Lott, senior research scientist at the University of Maryland, agrees with Bartlett. His book “More Guns, Less Crime” documents the fact that–instead of being a cause of crime–firearms in the hands of private citizens are actually a major deterrent to crime.
Another fact conveniently ignored by the major media is the connection between wanton killings and so-called “gun-free” zones. For an example of this, look no further than the Virginia Tech massacre. In spite of Virginia state laws that allow citizens to carry concealed weapons for self-defense, Virginia Tech forbade its students and faculty from carrying weapons for self-defense on campus. Had a student or faculty member been armed–as was Ms. Assam in the Colorado Springs attack–no doubt many, if not most, of the Virginia Tech victims would not have died. Obviously, bad guys do not pay any attention to “gun-free” zones, except to note that such zones create a free-killing environment.
Is it any wonder that those states and cities with the most restrictive gun control laws tend to also be home to the highest crime rates? The old saying is still true. “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.” There is another saying I like even better. “When guns are outlawed, I will be an outlaw.”
Even our Lord understood and validated the right of every person to arm themselves for personal self-defense. He said, “He that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” (Luke 22:36 KJV) The old Roman sword was the First Century equivalent of a modern handgun. It was the most practical and convenient form of self-defense available at that time. Also, please note that at least two of Jesus’ disciples (one of whom was Simon Peter) were in the habit of carrying their own personal swords, and Jesus never rebuked them. (See Luke 22:38.)
Jesus also acknowledged, “When a strong man ARMED [emphasis added] keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace.” (Luke 11:21)
Furthermore, the Apostle Paul said, emphatically, “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (I Tim. 5:8) Does “not providing for his own” include not providing protection? Of course it does.
The right and, yes, obligation of personal self-defense is entrenched in both Christian and American tradition. People who would deny citizens the right to arm themselves are either naïvely ignorant or deliberately duplicitous. As Robert Heinlein said, “An armed society is a polite society.”
America’s Founding Fathers agreed with Heinlein. Thomas Jefferson said, “No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” He also said, “Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”
Samuel Adams said, “[T]he said Constitution [shall] be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press, or the rights of conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms.”
James Madison said, “To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms.”
Thomas Paine said, “[A]rms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property . . . Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them.”
George Washington called the private collections of arms “the people’s liberty’s teeth.”
America must always preserve the right to keep and bear arms. To do any less is to invite oppression and tyranny, not to mention acts of violence.
Some years back, Alan Rice of the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO) wrote, “Since 1900 at least seven major genocides have occurred resulting in the murder of 50-60 million people:
*Ottoman Turkey, 1915-17; 1-1.5 million Armenians murdered;
*Soviet Union, 1929-53; 20 million anti-Communists and anti-Stalinists murdered;
*Nazi Germany & Occupied Europe, 1933-45; 13 million Jews, Gypsies, and Anti-Nazi murdered;
*China, 1949-52, 1957-60 & 1966-1976; 20 million anti-Communists murdered;
*Guatemala, 1960-1981; 100,000 Mayan Indians murdered;
*Uganda, 1971-1979; 300,000 Christians and Political Rivals of Idi Amin murdered;
*Cambodia, 1975-1979; 1 million murdered.”
Rice continued to say, “In all seven of the genocides summarized above, gun control laws were in force before the genocide occurred, in some cases decades before. In five of the seven genocides, the lethal law, the gun control law was in force before the genocide regime took power.”
Rice also said, “Gun control laws are usually enacted during a crisis or a perceived crisis.” He then said, “Government officials, not hate groups or common criminals, were responsible for these seven genocides. In most of these cases the murder victims outnumbered their murderers; yet they were powerless to defend themselves because they were disarmed.”
Do the math yourself. Absent an armed citizen, 32 innocent people lost their lives at Virginia Tech, while the presence of 1 armed citizen resulted in 2 innocent deaths in Colorado Springs. Furthermore, the presence of over 200 million firearms in the possession of the American people has done more to keep America free than any other human element–bar none!
Therefore, to help keep your family safe and your country free, go buy a gun.

Lancaster, PA: The country’s largest third party, based on voter registration, the Constitution Party, points to recent shootings in Omaha, Nebraska and Arvada and Colorado Springs, Colorado and suggests Americans question the notion that more and stricter gun laws save lives.
New Life Church member Jeanne Assam protected the lives of members of her church Sunday by using a firearm.
“An armed civilian acting swiftly and deliberately saved the lives of perhaps as many as 100 people (USA Today) thereby stopping a madman who was on a murderous rampage”, said Constitution Party National Committee Chairman Jim Clymer. “Instead of four dead bodies there would have been scores more if not for the fact that a law-abiding citizen ended the carnage by using a gun”, added Clymer.
“Just note the horrific consequences of having so-called ‘gun-free zones’ in light of the bloody scenes at Virginia Tech and the Omaha Mall. It should be apparent that guns in the hands of law-abiding people save lives,” Clymer noted.
The Constitution Party believes the media have downplayed the most important aspect of this tragic story.
News stories have focused on the past law enforcement experience of the woman who stopped the killer. Calling her a “security guard”, reports made it appear Jeanne Assam was part of “an elite group with special abilities and opportunities most people lack; this could not be further from the truth. Able-bodied people of both genders across a wide spectrum of age have the capacity and should have the un-infringed, God-given right to defend innocent life”, Clymer said.
Reports mentioned she was “trained, licensed, and background-checked”. That is true of millions of Americans with concealed weapons permits. The media spin suggested this heroic woman was not simply an armed citizen exercising basic 2nd amendment rights.
“Others interested in defending their lives against ever-increasing rampage shootings would do well to ignore the implication that they could never do what she did, that they should never dare to consider defending their lives and the lives of others,” Clymer added.
The Constitution Party encourages all Americans to look critically at the example of this tragedy that could have been worse, and note the effort to disarm Americans with more gun laws has not resulted in fewer shootings. “On the contrary, schools and other places where people are prevented from carrying self-defense weapons have become easy targets for gunmen. It’s time Americans stop and think about where all these shootings are taking place…certainly not at police stations or places where there would be armed resistance”, said Clymer.
The Constitution Party calls on all Americans to acknowledge that guns don’t kill people, criminals do…and in so doing stand up for the 2nd Amendment.
